Who is Alhambra Source?

We launched in 2010 with the simple goal of increasing civic engagement and inter-ethnic relations in a city that was deprived of it. Our website has since functioned as a platform for transparency and conversation - especially for those who love the SGV like we do. Our programming includes community contributor meetings, quarterly training workshops, community events, and digital content that covers the sometimes controversial, but important, issues. Our small publication has touched several hearts and ruffled some feathers, but what has kept us relevant is your support, community feedback, and your trust in our mission for democracy and transparency in media. With that said, we need your help!

Your Support Ensures Our Future

As some of you may already know, the Alhambra Source is a non-profit news organization. Since becoming a project of Community Partners, a nonprofit 501(c)3 fiscal sponsorship organization, we have worked hard to deliver coverage of Alhambra and the San Gabriel Valley. During our first ever membership drive we were ecstatic to see the groundswell of support from our readers and neighbors in support of local community journalism. We are always reaching out to our readers for their support in order to improve our reporting, programming, and overall civic engagement with our neighbors – you.

In 2017, Alhambra Source was able to collect donations from almost 60 donors (now AS members), but this year we want to increase that number to 200 and we know we can do it with your help. If you would like to support our unbiased reporting or civic-oriented programming in the past, please donate. If you have ideas for different programming or would like to recommend a story, please contact us at

Here are some cool projects we've worked on this year:

  • Hosted two Immigrants Narratives writing workshops for Asian Pacific American Month with the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse for APAFEST. More information here.
  • Commenced a Summer internship program (ongoing) that works with local students from the Alhambra Unified School District. More information here.
  • Launched the Alhambra Source podcast. Listen, rate, and subscribe on Soundcloud, Apple Podcast and Stitcher.
  • Coordinated an installment for Asian Pacific American Festival titled Alhambra Source presents: A Kaleidoscope of Immigrant Narratives. Through this exhibit we were able to highlight eight unique perspectives produced from Alhambra Source community contributors that concentrate on the ethnically diverse spirit that keeps the San Gabriel Valley our home. Find one of the stories here.
